Lewis County General Hospital Laboratory Department
The laboratory provides a broad range of clinical services to clients of all ages. Physicians, dentists, podiatrists, chiropractors, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners may make requests for laboratory tests. The requests must be made in writing or through electronic means and include the following. Patients name, the tests required, any special handling and a diagnosis. The services provided by our laboratory include: Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, Toxicology (Clinical and Forensic, Initial Testing Only), Bacteriology, Parasitology, Wet Mounts, Chemistry, Blood and pH Gases, Cytopathology, Histopathology, Urine Pregnancy Testing, Hematology, Andrology-Limited, Oncofetal Antigen Testing, Immunology (including Expedited HIV’s), Immunohematology, Virology-Direct Detection and Endocrinology. The laboratory is staffed with Medical Technologists, Bacteriologists, Clerks, Phlebotomists and a Histotechnician. Services are provided for inpatients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Outpatient services are provided from 8 AM until 7 PM Monday through Friday and from 9-12 on Saturdays (appointments are required for Saturdays).
The laboratory follows New York State Department of Health and Joint Commission standards and guidelines to ensure that the care provided by our department is of the highest quality. The lab is open for outpatient testing from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and by appointment only on Saturday. Blood is also collected at the following off campus locations
- Harris Courts Community Center (Harrisville) every Tuesday from 8-9 a.m.
- Beaver River Health Center (Beaver Falls) every Wednesday from 7-9 a.m.
- Copenhagen Health Center (Copenhagen) every Tuesday by appointment only from 8-9 a.m.
- South Lewis Health Center (Lyons Falls) every Monday and Thursday from 7-9 a.m.
